    Year 2  -  Rhyming Couplets

We have been continuing our poetry theme. This week Year 2 have being learning about rhyming words. We spent some time thinking of lots of pairs of words that rhymed and then we used these to write a rhyming couplet.                                                                                                                                        Here are some examples of the work that was produced:

I was playing in the sea,

When suddenly a wave hit me.

    (Maisie Fisher)

I was walking on the rocks,

When I saw an Arctic Fox.

    (Ava Rawson)

Here comes the red hot sun,

When I run and run and run.

    (Phoebe Atkins)

Why not make up your own rhyming couplets and share them with Year 2?

Rhyming Couplet is two lines of the same length that rhyme and complete one thought. There is no limit to the length of the lines .”

  • Governors' Open Day - 7 November 2016

    Tue 08 Nov 2016

    Governor’s Open Day - 7th November 2016

The Governors’ termly Open day was on Monday 7th Nov ember, 2016. On these days the governors are invited to spend the day in school looking at various aspects of the school’s curriculum, seeing how policies are being implemented and most importantly have a chance to talk to the children and get their views. This term we looked at 3 areas:

    • Marking and Feedback
    • Behaviour management
    • The learning environment

The behaviour we saw across the 2 Key stages was excellent and the behaviour policy seemed to be working, with two TAs on hand to deal with any disruptive children. This seemed to be an improvement from our last Open Day. The children were polite and most seemed engaged and interested .

The classrooms we visited were bright and welcoming and the children we spoke to could tell us how their working wall helped them with their topics and where they could get information they needed. It was interesting to see the progression of independence in the children as we looked at the different year groups.

The marking and feedback in the children’s books that we looked at was consistent and the children could tell us how they had addressed the feedback they had received.

We had a great day, so thanks to Mr Pullin and the staff for being so welcoming.

    Jean Norman

    Rewarding 123 Amazing 100% Attenders!

On Wednesday evening, 107 of our 123 Amazing 100% Attenders enjoyed a fun-packed session of fun and games. Our 100% attenders were rewarded with a healthy fruit juice drink, sausage roll, candy floss and of course, the choice of choosing and playing board games with the other children and staff. Boosted by their drink and snacks, the children thoroughly enjoyed the games of their choice, sharing a lovely session together. Well done to all our 100% attenders. There were lots and lots of different games to choose from such as: Scrabble, Hungry Hippos, Table Football, Bingo, Operation, Top Trumps...

The children were very well behaved. Well done! Our expert candy floss makers had a very sweet time too (rumour has it Mr Tyson and Mrs Tomlinson are looking to set up a Candy Floss business!).

  • Year 6 - Check out our blogging challenge….

    Fri 04 Nov 2016

As part of a blogging challenge Year 6 wrote about some very spooky happenings. Here are just two tantalising examples to tempt you to read further. Please visit our blog - we would love you to leave a comment!

Unbelievable, but true, the tale that will haunt me for the rest of my days is about to be told… Atop a mountain a log cabin stood but it wasn’t any ordinary tourist attraction. My speculation was and still is that a beast, a thing, a nightmare lived in the area and it wouldn’t leave until we had left its territory…(Keisha/Grace/Alec/Curtis)

The door opened...The room was perishing, grey, white and black—it had a dark shadow flying around—a dark object. Looking down at the end of the hallway I detected an unknown power next to the immense shadow. It was creeping up to me it said: “Buddy don’t you know how to make a new pal welcome? Turn around and shake my hand”…(Christian/Jamie)
