Langold Dyscarr Community School is seeking to appoint a lunchtime playworker.

 

We require people who will:

 

  • To play an active part on our OPAL programme, where the playworker’s core function is to create an environment that will stimulate children’s play and maximise their opportunities for a wide range of play experiences. A skilled and experienced playworker is capable of enriching the child’s play experience both in terms of the design and resources of the physical environment and in terms of the attitudes and culture fostered within the play setting. Playworkers are a channel of access to new materials and tools and they can act as a stimulus to children to explore and learn. They are also available to participate in the play if invited.
  • Ensure that the dining hall is set-up ready for lunch and left clean and tidy afterwards
  • Supervise and support children whilst are eating
  • Encourage good eating habits
  • Ensure pupil safety and wellbeing by supervising the children at all times whether it be in the dining hall, on the playground or in class during wet play.
  • work as a member of a team to ensure that all the children are supervised in the dining areas and all areas of the school grounds
  • encouraging children to play appropriate games
  • supervise the play areas
  • ensure that the dining areas are clean and tidy

We welcome applications from people who are well organised, conscientious and caring with good behaviour management skills. Experience is desirable, but not essential.  Successful candidates will join a team of motivated Midday Supervisors who are supportive of each other and the pupils.
