  • Neanderthal Cave Children Take Over The School Warnig

    Sun 27 Sep 2015

    Dear Parents/Carers

Please be aware that on Tuesday 29th September 2015, a time warp is expected in Year 2/3 and Year 3 class. On this day expect to see Neanderthal cave children take over the school. These children are welcome to wear their best cave clothing or, alternatively, their full school uniform please.

On this day children will experience school in the Stone Age. In the morning, children will be having Rock Hard Maths and baking rock cakes in Cave Economics. Cave Design for Beginners will commence in the afternoon, followed by lessons in the latest fashions of cave décor.

At 2:30pm on this day, parents and carers of these Neanderthal cave children, are invited to come into school to enjoy a cup of hot stone-chocolate and munch on some of our homemade rock cakes. These will be enjoyed around the “fire” along with fantastic stories read to you by your own Neanderthal child.

This is going to be such an exciting day. We can’t wait for the adventure to begin.

    Excited thanks,

Year 2/3 - Stone Age Art

What an exciting week we have had. We have been learning more about the Stone Age and in art we have been looking at improving our skills and knowledge. In art we use lots of different kinds of paint, such as water colours and acrylic paint. We discovered that these types of paint didn't exist in the Stone Age, instead they would use Nature’s colour palette. This week we tried to recreate this; we used things such as blueberries, blackberries, and charcoal. We crushed and mushed them up, added a little oil and suddenly we had paint!  Check out our efforts in making natural Stone Age paint.
