    Foundation News

In Foundation we have been looking at all the different coins we use when out shopping. We have looked at sorting coins into groups and recognising them by using the numbers and colours.

In literacy the children have been labelling and sequencing pictures from the Hansel and Gretel story. They have also been looking at how to share toys and have used role play to find different ways of asking someone if they can play with and share a toy.  On Thursday, FSU enjoyed a lovely walk to the library where the children were able to choose a new book to take home. The children were able to join in with a brand new story which Mrs Fenton read to them.

    We love sharing books!

    Faith Day

Our ‘Faith Day’, last week, was a great success!

Throughout the school, our children took part in many activities including Year 3,4 and 5 participating in role play with our visitors who taught us about Hinduism.  There were some fantastic actors - Kyle wowed us all! The children were thoroughly engaged in the presentation and their behaviour made us very proud!

The symbolism of light in different religions was studied in lots of different ways across the school: In Foundation the children looked at the symbolism of candle light and stained glass windows - they then made their own  ‘stained glass window’; other classes looked at Hanukkah in Judaism, Divali in Hinduism and Loi Krathong, the Thai Festival of Light. The symbolism of light was also studied through poetry, ICT and rangoli patterns. Year 6 looked at how faiths overlap and how light binds all the faiths.

First Aid Training for Year 5/5A

Year 5/5A had a great time on Wednesday learning about First Aid. They now know what to do if someone is choking; they can put you in a recovery position if you are unconscious; they can help you if you have fainted and they know all about the signs and symptoms of asthma. Don, the trainer, said that in the four months he'd been doing the training, our children were the best behaved so far.   Well done Class 5/5A :- )
