Update on the school fire
Dear Parents
I'd like to thank you for your support and patience at this challenging time for Langold Dyscarr Community School. As ever, the community spirit shines through and everyone pulls together for the sake of all the children. I realise that so far we haven't been able to provide you with much information so I'd like to take this opportunity to give you a few more details.
We have had a fire, as you are aware, starting in a room on the Year 6 corridor. There has been damage both on the corridor and the adjacent rooms. The cause of the fire was an electrical fault. As of today the school remains closed until all areas can be made safe by the appropriate property services and will remain closed Monday and Tuesday; further updates will be posted on the school website on Tuesday.
The cleaning company will be starting work over the weekend and we are waiting for the fire alarm to be fixed and to ensure all the electrics are made safe.
As you are aware, the safety of pupils is of paramount importance to us and we have to be sure the school is safe before we can reopen, but please be assured we are working to ensure this happens as soon as possible.
