Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

Having met with Notts County Council, contractors and insurers today at school, I can now confirm that school will reopen on Tuesday 1st December. We originally hoped to start back on the Monday but Portakabin require an extra day to install the temporary buildings on site for Year 6, the admin team and extra toilets. Doing so whilst children are on site would pose a health and safety risk to pupils. This date will only alter if there are extenuating circumstances.

Year 6 will continue to access their education at Outwood Academy Portland and will return to Langold a day after everyone else on Wednesday 2nd December. This will give staff time to ensure the classrooms are fully ready for their return.

I realise it has been a difficult time for children and families for a number of reasons. I am sure you are looking forward to getting your children back to school, as are all of the staff who have been working hard each day to ensure the children's return will be as normal as possible. When the children return they will have missed 13 days of education and we are currently discussing ways in which we can make up for some of this time; we will update you on this as soon as we have firm plans.

As the Year 6 corridor and reception are the areas of school with fire and smoke damage, there will be some changes to how we function in the building. Foundation and the KS1 corridor will function as normal whilst the KS2 corridor has some changes. We have had to block off access to the Year 6 corridor so the only rooms now available in that area of school are from Miss Lynam's room down to the KS2 main entrance. My office is now located on the KS2 corridor in the small room across from the Happy Hub. Miss Bradley's classroom will be what was the Drama room and Mrs Bailey/Fearnley's class will be in the Portakabin located on the playground at the front of school.

Thank you once again for your patience and continued support over the past two weeks. I was delighted that so many of you were able to collect the work that we provided. Please remember that if your children need support with any of the it this week, you can pop into the village hall.

I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday.

Yours sincerely

Gemma Bradford
