F2 - New Classroom Changes to Explore and Enjoy!

What a fantastic week back!  We have made a few changes to the classroom. Our Home Corner is now a Costa Coffee Shop and the children have loved it! We have some budding baristas in the making! Our other role play area is now a dark cave for bed time reading. Keeping to a Halloween theme, our children could enter a competition to design  a             jack-o'-lantern face which we would carve into our pumpkin. Oliver was our worthy winner— just  take a look at his splendid design!

In gymnastics, we had to pull ourselves across the benches, do a stretch jump off and land in the landing shape. We had to be careful not put our hands on the floor. We are trying very hard in gymnastics and making good progress!

On our Wednesday Walkabout, we made a giant Rangoli pattern out of leaves. First, we drew our design and then we created it with the leaves we had collected on our Walkabout. What do you think to it? We had talked about the story of Diwali. Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia. It is also the occasion for celebrations by Jains and Sikhs as well as Hindus. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning ‘rows of lighted lamps’".

In Caterpillar Music, we continued with the theme of celebration, including Diwali, the festival of light and the triumph of good over evil. We talked about lots of different sources of light, played lots of fun games and danced and moved to Ali’s selection of music. Alison played her saxophone for us so that we could move and dance along to it. We had to use our listening skills to follow the tempo of the music. We were very good!
