BookBench Update

LDCS entered a design competition to win a BookBench sculpture to decorate with designs inspired by journeys, adventure and freedom - themes all found in a good book! The sculptures will feature in an art trail across Nottinghamshire.

Take a look at our BookBench journey so far…
Sculpture 1 entitled ‘Adventure Is Just A Page Away…’
This sculpture was inspired by a love of reading for pleasure. It is a celebration of the freedom that reading brings, creating space in our minds for creativity, happiness and relaxation. It represents how, with the turn of every page, we get lost in words finding ourselves meandering into adventures and magical worlds.Featuring a landscape of rolling hills below a blue sky in which colourful kites dance freely, this design idea was adapted from a competition entry by one of our Year 6 pupils.
Once the trail has ended, the BookBenches will return to school. What an inspirational place to sit and read with school friends!
