I have learnt to draw an elephant. I now know how to mix a grey colour with paint. I now know how to make a bowl with leaves. Different technique e.g. splatter painting, using straws and cocktail sticks to create different effect. We know our work does not have to be perfect - resilience a 'mistake' can always be made into a positive. We enjoyed drawing our elephants, colour mixing, Henna, rangoli patterns, freedom to decorate the elephants, shading, allotment drawings. The Lion Man and drawing Stone Age animals.

Can you share some new things that you have learnt from your art project this term?

How to draw mammoths and cave paintings with different materials. Some of our favourite artists were Warhol, Fortin and Rowland. We have learnt to paint with string, toothbrushes and toothpicks. We also learnt to paint using the 'splatter' and 'drip' method. When you're sketching don't press on hard. We looked at Frida Khalo's paintings. We looked at our faces in a mirror. We have learnt to do the running stitch on felt fabric. We have learnt how to use polystyrene to make a print of our portrait. We have learnt how to build up different colours.

4

Do you have any feedback regarding your progress in your recent art project?

We like it, it's fun and if I keep practising my skills I get better. We are enjoying using our sketchbooks and treating them as a 'work in progress' rather than a finished piece. We enjoyed working with charcoal and the abstract work reflecting moods. I enjoyed collage. I like sticking things to make a picture. I loved every single bit. I liked when we had to look in the mirror and do our face. Sketch books are a hit! When Miss Mace taught the first printing lesson in the art room. I enjoyed printing on my own in my sketch book. I enjoyed making the different patterns. Putting 2 different colours together to mix the colours when printing.

We would like to draw what we like/are interested in. Do art more often. Have a go at different things. Listen to teachers. Learning about the artists and recreating some of their work.
