Rio, Our Sponsor Puppy, Inspire Year/34
Sun 26 Oct 2014Rio, Our Sponsor Puppy, Inspires Year 3/4
Mrs Bellingham has kindly sponsored a guide dog for class 3/4A. His name is Rio and he is a golden Labrador. We have received our latest update from him. Julia is the name of his puppy walker. Rio is the first puppy that Julia has puppy walked, and they've been hard at work learning all the basics together. "Rio has already learnt 'sit', 'stay', 'down' and 'wait' which he picked up really quickly," Julia explained. This is fantastic! Rio will have lots of commands to learn as he trains to become a guide dog, so seeing that he's a fast learner is a really positive sign. Please look on our class blog to read what adventures our teddy, ‘Rio the blogging dog’, has been up to with our ‘Stars of the Week’. Rio would love you to leave a comment!

Foundation News
Sun 19 Oct 2014Foundation News
This week Foundation have been reading the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Together, we have sequenced the story and labelled a scene a scene from it. On the stage were all the props from the story and the children have loved acting it out!
In numeracy we have been looking at one less than and we have been hopping back on a giant number line. It really helped us understand that the number gets smaller when we take one away.
We have been to St Luke’s church to learn about baptism. We christened one of the dolls and it helped us understand what happens and why Christians decide to christen their children.

Play Ambassadors
Sun 19 Oct 2014Play Ambassadors
This week, the Play Ambassadors have been using marbles for their challenge. Did you know that the game of marbles was first played in the Indus Valley, Pakistan, during the Bronze Age? Marbles were also played in Roman and Egyptian times. Clay was collected from the local river bank, rolled into small balls and baked in the oven. Others were made from stone such as marble - hence the name!
To complete their level 2 challenge, the ambassadors have had to learn to play ‘bounce out’ with their marbles, then play with 5 other people, 3 in school and 2 out of school.
They also have to design their own marble game and play it with 5 other people - 3 at school and 2 out of school.
Have fun playing your marble games!
