F2 -  What a Busy Week!

Our week has been very busy! On Tuesday we showed our new class teachers that we were definitely Year 1-Ready! We settled well into our new classes and showed our new teachers how clever we were. In gymnastics we even had two more children who achieved their Level 8 Proficiency Certificate and Badge—well done Lente and Alicia, our super gymnasts! When we returned to our F2 teachers they thought we had grown several centimetres and looked like Year 1 children and not F2 anymore!

On Wednesday we had a super day at the Butterfly House. We loved the animals, and even got to stroke some of them. Some of us were very brave walking through the ‘dark’ house, with the bats, snakes and reptiles! We walked round all the different areas and used our observation and describing skills to talk about what we saw. We even came across a ‘human skeleton’, sitting on a toilet reading a newspaper. We thought he was very funny. When the children were asked if they thought the skeleton was male or female, Archie immediately said that it “was a man because daddies and granddads read newspapers on the toilet!”. After our lunch we enjoyed the rest of the trip on the adventure playground—we had so much fun, especially on the zip wire!  We were definitely very tired by the end of the day and some of us fell asleep as soon as we got on the bus! The children’s behaviour was a credit to parents/carers and school. We were so proud of all of them! We would like to say a huge thank you to all the helpers who came along, especially to Nurse Cullen, who was on hand to help us with Jimmy’s injuries. Jimmy was so brave as his cut knee was cleaned and dressed (twice, after two falls!).

Back at school we have been writing some super sentences all about our trip and using marvellous language to talk about our experience at the Butterfly House.
