  • Fence to be erected around our school playing field

    Sun 23 Nov 2014

We are delighted to report that, thanks to a considerable amount of support from The Big Local Lottery Fund, at last we are able to erect a fence around our school playing field.  It is anticipated that the work will begin on Monday, 24th November 2014 and will take approximately one week.

The new fence will be a huge benefit to both the children at our school and the local community for several reasons:

    • The field will be a safer place to play and learn, because the risk from broken glass and dog fouling will be removed.
    • We know that the children will be contained within a safe space, so will not be at risk from stray dogs and strangers.
    • Subject to prior approval from the school, organised community groups will be able to use our field after school in the summer and at weekends all year round.
    • Increased use of the field will provide opportunities for pupils and the local community to engage in more sporting activities, thus promoting healthy lifestyles.

    Foundation News

This week we took the opportunity to celebrate differences, and to understand how it feels and how important it is to belong to a group.

We also looked at unkindness, what it is and how it makes us feel, and how important it is to tell a grown up when someone makes you feel sad.

The photos show us looking at things that are the same and different about each other and we celebrated differences.

We have also read the books, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet by Anna Kemp and Something Else by Kathryn Cave. Both books celebrate differences.

In Caterpillar Music the children loved working with the puppets and ‘finding a voice’ for them. There were some super voices coming from the puppets!

Mrs P. and her baking club have been very creative ‘merging different cultural dishes’ to come up with Pitta Bread Pizzas! Look out MasterChef!

    Class 6A Viking Assembly

Class 6A were the first class to present an assembly this year. Olivia said,”I felt nervous”.  Millie said,”It felt embarrassing when I had to do my ha, ha, ha, again.” Parents left us with great big smiles on their faces. I think it turned out to be a great success, especially as we didn’t have much practice. At the end of the assembly, Miss Marsh and Mrs Mallaby had to stand up at the front and strike their best Superhero pose!!!!                                                                                                                     Afterwards, Year 6A and their parents and carers enjoyed refreshments together.             Reporter: Chloe Fitch

    Well done, Year 6A.

Another Budding Gymnast in Year 2!

Well done to Alexis who achieved her British Gymnastics proficiency award for level 6!

We are very proud of Alexis and all the other gymnasts who are working hard to achieve their different levels.                                                                                                                                                       Have we got some budding Olympians in the making?
