Curriculum

Our Curriculum

At Langold Dyscarr Community School we pride ourselves on having a 'Take Care' curriculum which has our community at the heart of our teaching and learning.  As part of the SHINE Multi-Academy Trust our curriculum is based on the SHINE model of developing high-quality teaching: providing pupils with firm foundations whilst developing their uniqueness and allowing them to shine.

Our subject based curriculum has been designed to encompass knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live, and also the events that have shaped it in the past to make it what it is today. The curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum 2014 and the Nottinghamshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. The topics have been designed to complement and build on one another with clear progression and links so that in subsequent year groups, they will be able to explore concepts deeper, applying their knowledge in different contexts.  School visits form an integral part of our curriculum and each class enjoys at least three quality external learning opportunities per year, one of which has an RE link.

Through our curriculum we 'Dare to be different' and provide our children with a 'Chance to Shine' ensuring that our children develop the knowledge and skills they need to excel, and become creative and curious citizens.
