We have been learning about the story of Noah in foundation. F2 acted out the story on the stage in the big playground. We all sang the Rainbow song at the end and signed along to it.

    World Cup Day in FSU

    News story image 0

FSU have been learning about Italy for World Cup Day; we made pizzas and the Italian flag. The pizzas were delicious and we even had ice cream for pudding.

We turned the ‘Home Corner’ into an Italian café and we took our friends’ orders. Spaghetti Bolognaise was very popular!

News story image 0  A French Afternoon for Year 3

And finally, Year 3 spent a French afternoon using their language skills to play a French board game, Le Tour de France; using a French ‘app’ on the Kindles followed by some French food tasting. They voted le pain au chocolat as their favourite food, closely followed by French Brie cheese. Délicieux! Their lesson ended by singing along to some French songs.                                       Thank you to the Y6 helpers!

    Le Championnat de Boules

The French theme continued on Wednesday when we held the annual French Boules Final. In Mediterranean, summer-style,  weather our 4 KS2 finalists, Keira Year 3,Elby Year 4, Joe Year 5 and Billy Year 6, took to the arena and gave the spectators a  very close-scoring competition full of good sportsmanship and determination. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the KS2 crowd cheered and encouraged their year representative.  Our 2014 Champion de Boules is Keira Bowskill, Year 3. Well done, Keira. Bravo!

  • Allez Langold - Le Tour de Langold

    Allez, Langold !

There has been a strong Gallic feel around school this week. We started with Le Tour de Langold which saw KS1 and KS2 children cycle around the gruelling course which took our cyclists past many landmarks, including the Yorkshire Dales, Langold Chip Shop, Big Ben, across La Manche (the English Channel—at the school field gate), into the green pastures of France and past La Tour Eiffel. All the landmarks (painted by our talented Year 6) added to the atmosphere. Mrs Wendon was the stylish trail-blazer of the course (her only worry—would her non-lycra outfit stand up to the course!). The rest of the ‘year peletons’ followed enthusiastically, cheered on and encouraged by a very vociferous crowd chanting Allez! Allez! Allez! Well done to everyone. We saw  lots of good sportsmanship, determination and resilience! Fantastique!! FSU also held their own exciting Tour de Langold. As in the Le Tour de France, our outstanding cyclists were awarded with their Maillot Jaune.

Year 2- Wet but Wonderful trip to Cleethorpes.

On Thursday 10th July, children in year 2 went to Cleethorpes. Although it rained, it did not dampen their fun. Children enjoyed: a train ride, completing a traffic survey, a walk on the pier, eating rock and building sand castles on the beach. It was a great day!

Thank you to all our helpers who came along—we could not have done it without you!smiley
